In 2004 The Libertines emerged as serious Chas & Dave fans, and Pete & Carl can be heard here singing their praises (with C&D reciprocating) on a Radio 1 special about London culture (narrated by the superb Leslie Phillips in case you didn’t notice!)
Jack Clement was the engineer at the legendary Sun Studios where Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash etc. made rock ‘n’ roll history. Jack recorded them all and was the man who first noticed Elvis’s talent. In 2000 he heard a copy of ‘The World Of Chas & Dave’ and felt compelled to write this letter to the label boss:
